Course Objectives It is aimed to learn how to prepare the most used slides for light microscopy in order to examine cells and tissues histologically.
Learning Outcomes The students who succeeded in this course;
  • Describe the steps of the parafine tissue attachment protocol
  • Describe the names of the most commonly used fixative, dehydration and clarifying agents and their mechanisms of action during tissue examination
  • Describe the cause of the three problems and the solution to the problems encountered during sectioning
  • Describe the most commonly used staining method in histochemistry and which cell parts are stained
  • Explain three specific histochemical stains for use
Course Description Histochemical procedures, paraffin tissue tracing, sectioning and staining procedures will be performed to evaluate these derste cells and tissues under light microscope. It is aimed that the students will be able to transfer the general histology knowledge of the four basic tissues to the concepts and applications of the theoretical knowledge they learn.
